SHANGHAI, July 30 (Reuters) - Olympic champion Michael Phelps retained his men’s 100 metres butterfly title at the world swimming championships on Saturday, completing the 100-200 butterfly double and winning his third gold medal in Shanghai.
Phelps, who also won gold as a member of the 4x200 freestyle relay team on Friday, clocked 50.71 seconds to claim gold ahead of Poland’s Konrad Czerniak who touched in 51.15, with Tyler McGill of the United States third in 51.26.
