Pharmacy blamed for Cielo’s positive doping test

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP)—Sport’s highest court says a Brazilian pharmacy was responsible for Olympic champion swimmer Cesar Cielo’s positive doping test before the world championships.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport issued a detailed verdict one week after clearing Cielo to compete in Shanghai.
Cielo won 50-meter butterfly gold Monday.
CAS says the pharmacy acknowledged preparing a heart disease medication containing furosemide, a diuretic banned in sport, on the same day it made Cielo’s prescribed caffeine capsules.
CAS says Cielo’s urine sample was not diluted, proving that the substance wasn’t used as a masking agent.
CAS says governing body FINA accepted Cielo didn’t take the drug to enhance his performance.
