NEW YORK, July 18 (Reuters) - Cleveland Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Monday with a bruised right knee a day after leaving a game against the Baltimore Orioles during the first inning.
The three-time All-Star, who began the year on the disabled list while recovering from microfracture surgery on his left knee, was also sidelined in May with a separate knee issue.
“It’s not the surgically-repaired knee,” Indians manager Manny Acta told reporters. “He had a quick turn around first base and it hurt him a little bit, so we took him out of the game.”
The setback comes during a hot streak for Sizemore, who had hit .400 (8-for-20) with two homers, two doubles and four runs batted in over his past six games.
For the season, Sizemore is batting .234 with 10 homers and 29 RBIs in 60 games for Cleveland.
Cleveland recalled left-handed pitcher David Huff from Triple-A Columbus, who was starting Monday’s game against the Twins in Minnesota.
