Arsenal will sell Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona if the Spanish club meet their asking price for the London club's captain.
A senior Arsenal official has apparently confirmed to the BBC that a deal for Fabregas should finally be concluded over the next few weeks that will see the midfielder return to the European champions.
"The offer was made formally in writing to our chief executive (Ivan Gazidis), and we said no straight away," said the Arsenal official.
When asked if Arsenal would be willing to sell the Spanish player, the official apparently said: "Possibly yes, and if it's enough then I expect we'll have to sell."
A Barca bid of £27 million for the player was rejected last week with Arsenal seeking £40 million, who is keen to leave the Emirates to rejoin the club where he started his career as a trainee.
A deal could be concluded for around £35 million as Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger starts to rebuild his squad for next term.
