Portugal trio lead way into Europa League last four

Portuguese sides Porto, Benfica and Sporting Braga advanced Thursday to the semi-finals of the Europa League while Spain's Villarreal made it an all-Iberian last four.Porto and Villarreal will now meet, while Benfica play Braga in all-Portuguese clash for a place in next month's final.

Porto moved effortlessly through with a 5-2 victory at Spartak Moscow to follow up their 5-1 home win last week.

Villarreal earned a 3-1 win at Dutch champions Twente to advance on 8-2 on aggregate.

Benfica came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at PSV Eindhoven for a 6-3 aggregate, while Braga advanced on the away-goals rule after a goalless draw with Dynamo Kiev following their 1-1 in Ukraine.

   Competition top scorer Radamel Falcao followed up his hat-trick last week by notching his 11th goal for Porto who again hit five against Spartak.

   Brazilian striker Hulk opened the scoring in the 28th minute for Porto who went further ahead through Cristian Rodriguez (45th) and Freddy Guarin (47th).

   Artyom Dzyuba pulled a goal back for Spartak in the 54th minute before Falcao made it 4-1 a minute later. Brazilian striker Ari (72nd) scored a second for Spartak while Ruben Micael added a fifth for the visitors a minute from time.

Twente, seeking to overturn a 5-1 defeat at Villarreal, grabbed a first-half goal through Sweden midfielder Emir Bajrami, but penalties from Giuseppe Rossi and Marco Ruben and a late Cani goal completed the Villarreal victory

Italian striker Rossi scored from the spot on the hour after he had been fouled by Dwight Tiendalli, who was sent off, giving him his 10th goal of the competition.

Rossi had been substituted shortly before the second penalty converted by Ruben with six minutes to go, and Cani completed the scoring with two minutes remaining.

PSV, 4-1 down against Benfica, started well with goals from Balazs Dzsudzsak and Jeremain Lens in the 17th and 25th minutes. Brazilian defender Luisao buoyed the visitors with a goal right on half-time and Oscar Cardozo converted a penalty in the 63rd minute to level the score.

Sporting Braga's Brazilian striker Paulo Cesar was sent off in the 30th minute for a foul on Andriy Yarmolenko but Kiev were unable to take advantage of the extra man in a goalless draw, losing Goran Popov after a second yellow card three minutes from time.

The semi-finals will be held over two legs on April 28 and May 5. The final is in Dublin on May 18.
