Peru announces list of 23 players for the 2011 Copa America

LIMA, June 29, 2011 (AFP) – The defender, Carlos Zambrano and midfielder, Luis Ramirez, who have been injured, were excluded, at the last minute from the official list of players being sent by Peru to the 2011 Copa America. Peru is in Group C along with Chile, Mexico and Uruguay.
The Uruguayan strategist, Sergio Markarián, Peruvian coach, excluded Zambrano (St. Pauli, Germany) and Ramirez (Corinthians, Brazil), who received heavy blows during the rough friendly match that Peru won by  1-0 against Senegal on Tuesday, in Lima.
The list does not include the injured Claudio Pizarro (Werder Bremen, Germany) and Jefferson Farfán (Schalke 04, Germany), the key attackers for the 4-3-3 tactical schemes that Markarián was going to apply.
The midfielder, Juan Vargas (Fiorentina, Italy) included on the list of nominees, confirming the recovery of his injury suffered, two weeks ago.
Striker, Paolo Guerrero (Hamburg, Germany) was also included, being the only fit center striker.
Peru will travel Saturday to Argentina, and will debut on July 4 in San Juan against Uruguay.
The final list that will participate in the 2011 Copa America for Peru is:
Goakeepers: Raúl Fernández (Nice, France), Leao Butrón (San Martín), Salomón Libman (Alianza Lima).
Defenders: Alberto Rodríguez (Sporting, Portugal), Santiago Acasiete (Almeria, Spain), Walter Vílchez (Alianza Lima), Christian Ramos (Alianza Lima), Renzo Revoredo (Universitario), Aldo Corzo (San Martín), Giancarlo Carmona (San Lorenzo, Argentina).
Midfielders: Adán Balbín, Juan Vargas (Fiorentina, Italy), Josepmir Ballón (River Plate, Argentina), Michael Guevara (Sport Boys), Rinaldo Cruzado and William Chiroque (Juan Aurich), Carlos Lobatón and Yoshimar Yotún (Sporting Cristal), Antonio Gonzales (Universitario).
Forwards: Raúl Ruidíaz (Universitario), Luis Advíncula (S. Cristal), André Carrillo (Sporting, Portugal), Paolo Guerrero (Hamburg, Germany).
