LONDON, June 1 (Reuters) - Gerard Houllier has stepped down as Aston Villa manager with immediate effect, the Premier League club said on their website on Wednesday.
The 63-year-old Frenchman arrived at Villa Park in September but suffered health problems and was unable to take charge of the team for the last five matches of the season.
