MONTEVIDEO, June 28, 2011 (AFP) – The forward of the Uruguayan national team, Edinson Cavani, top scorer of Napoli (ITA), affirmed Tuesday that the ‘Celeste’ has to “defend its prestige” in the Copa America, which starts on July 1st.
“This is the image we want to pass onto the world”, declared Uruguay’s player. “We know what we are capable of, and we are ready to play our role the best we possibly can”.
Cavani also said that “in international tournaments there are no favorites, anyone can make the difference at any moment. The team which is more solid and concentrated during the competition should be considered the favorite”.
Tuesday’s practice was closed to the press, and the final 23 player list of players who will play in the Copa America has not been announced yet.
