LONDON, May 4 (Reuters) - Wasps forward Andy Powell has left the English Premiership club by "mutual consent", Wasps said on Wednesday following the Welsh international's involvement in a pub brawl.
Last month the London club suspended Powell and England prop Tim Payne pending an investigation but Payne's ban was lifted after two days.
Wasps gave no details of the incident but Powell spoke to reporters and described how some pub banter with fans of Queens Park Rangers football club got out of hand and ended with him taking a beating and needing stitches in a head wound.
"Wasps can today announce that Andy Powell is to leave the club by mutual consent," the club said in a statement.
"This announcement comes following a thorough and detailed review, between the player and the club, of all of the evidence arising from the incident for which Andy was initially suspended. This included a review of CCTV footage of the incident and statements from those witnesses present throughout.
"Both parties are satisfied that this matter has been dealt with in a proper, fair and appropriate manner and agree that the conclusion reached is in their respective best interests for the future."
Powell, who was banned from driving for 15 months and fined for driving a golf buggy on a motorway slip road last year, joined Wasps from Cardiff Blues in July.
