KOSICE, Slovakia, May 8 (Reuters) - Thieves stole money and personal belongings from the hotel rooms of Denmark's ice hockey team while they played Germany at the world championship on Saturday, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) said on Sunday.
"We wanted to have fun in the evening after winning the match against Germany and we spent the night with the police," Denmark's captain Morten Green said.
Officials at the team hotel in Bratislava said they would compensate the players for the theft of their possessions.
The Danes defeated Germany 4-3 in a shootout in their Group E match on Saturday but still failed to advance in the tournament.
