BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP)—Sebastien Loeb of France won the Rally of Argentina for the sixth time, finishing just ahead of Mikko Hirvonen of Finland on Sunday with third place for Sebastien Ogier.
Loeb, who picked up a one-minute penalty on Friday, started his Citroen in third place on Sunday, 47.7 seconds behind leader and teammate Ogier.
In was the 65th series victory for Loeb, who is the seven-time defending world rally champion.
Loeb leads the season standings again with Ford’s Hirvonen in second and Ogier in third. It was Loeb’s third win of the season following victories in Italy and Mexico. He leads Hirvonen by 13 points through six of 13 events.
“I didn’t feel I would be able to fight for the victory at the end of rally but I’m really happy how it has gone,” Loeb said. “It was important to keep the lead of the championship and not lose these points.”
