Giro fourth stage will be neutral in honour of Weylandt

RAPALLO, May 10 (Reuters) - Giro d'Italia director Angelo Zomegnan has told Reuters that Tuesday's fourth stage will not count towards the overall race result in honour of Belgian cyclist Wouter Weylandt, who died on Monday.

"The stage will be neutralised," Zomegnan told Reuters at the start of the coastal 216-km stage from Genova Quarto dei Mille to Livorno.
"Each team will race at the front of the pack for 10km."
Weylandt, 26, died after falling off his bike coming down from Passo del Bocco and suffering multiple injuries.
"It's a terrible day, just as every death in this sport is terrible," Zomegnan added.
Weylandt's Leopard-Trek teammates were unsighted at the start on Tuesday and it is not yet clear whether they will participate.
