Nadal heads rankings as compatriot Almagro makes top 10

Rafael Nadal continued to comfortably head the world tennis rankings released Monday by the governing body ATP, while his compatriot Nicolas Almagro made the top 10 for the first time in his career. Nadal, who on Sunday beat David Ferrer 6-2, 6-4 to win his sixth title in seven years at the Barcelona Open, leads by more than 3,000 points from Novak Djokovic.


   Nadal has 12,870 points, while Djokovic stands on 9,640.

Almagro, who was knocked out by Ferrer in the semi-finals in Barcelona, comes in at 10th, pushing out the only American who was in the top 10, Mardy Fish.
