RAPALLO, Italy, May 9 (Reuters) - Spain's Angel Vicioso won the third stage of the Giro d'Italia on Monday when a serious accident involving Belgian Wouter Weylandt overshadowed the result.
Weylandt crashed badly on the descent of the dangerous Passo del Bocco climb and received emergency treatment including cardiac massage at the scene of the accident.
Television shots showed the rider bleeding heavily and lying unconscious on the ground. A helicopter was sent for the rider.
Organisers announced that the normal post-stage celebrations had been cancelled.
Britain's David Millar, second on the stage, claimed the overall lead.
