NEW YORK (AP) -- Washington
Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss was fined $22,050 by the NFL on
Friday for language deemed ''abusive and insulting'' directed at game
officials.
Moss was
ejected from the Redskins' 24-13 loss to the New York Giants last Sunday
when he stormed after officials after Washington lost a touchdown on
the final play of the first half on a video review.
Robert
Griffin III scrambled for an apparent 8-yard touchdown and a 17-7 lead,
but a review by referee Jeff Triplette showed the quarterback lost
control of the ball diving over the pylon and the play was ruled a
touchback. The lead stayed at 10-7.
Triplette ejected Moss for inappropriate language directed first at him and then at field judge Alex Kemp.
Cleveland
linebacker Barkevious Mingo was fined $16,537 for hitting Cincinnati
quarterback Andy Dalton in the head and neck area last Sunday in the
Bengals' 30-0 victory.
Tennessee defensive tackle Jurrell Casey
and New York Jets right guard Willie Colon were each docked $8,268 for
their roles in a brief brawl. Casey started things in the third quarter
of the Jets' 16-11 win last Sunday when he punched quarterback Geno
Smith in the helmet.Colon ran over to Casey and pulled off his helmet, and later grabbed Titans safety George Wilson by the helmet. Several other players got involved in the melee, including Jets center Nick Mangold and right tackle Breno Giacomini, but no one else was fined.
Casey's fine was for unnecessarily striking an opponent after the play was over, while Colon's was for grabbing an opponent by the face mask after the play was over
