Brisbane Roar coach Mike Mulvey praised the glovework of Buriram United's Sivaruck Tedsungnoen in Tuesday's AFC Champions League play-off.
With the two sides unable to be split at 0-0 after 120 minutes of play, they took to the spot to settle who would progress to the competition's group stage. That place belongs to Thai Premier League side Buriram, thanks largely to the heroics of Tedsungnoen, who saved all three Brisbane Roar penalties.
Tedsungen's first save, from stand-in Roar captain Thomas Broich, was the pick of the bunch.
"Usually the goalkeeper should be under pressure, but Buriram's goalkeeper made it another story," Mulvey said.
"He controlled all his emotions and did very well to save all those penalties."
The hosts controlled large portions of the game and looked more likely to break the deadlock, with only some alert goalkeeping from Roar goalkeeper Michael Theo and some desperate defending keeping Buriram from scoring.
"It was very exciting 120 minutes. I believe that for the first 45 minutes Buriram was the better side, but I believe we came back stronger in the second half," Mulvey said.
"I knew from the beginning that the match would be tough for us. Buriram is a very strong side and has good players. They are just as good as an A-League club."
