Soccer federation to rule on Hertha relegation

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) The German soccer federation says it will rule Friday on Hertha Berlin's appeal of a relegation match that resulted in the team's demotion from the Bundesliga.

Hertha drew with second-division club Fortuna Duesseldorf 2-2 on Tuesday after fan interference forced the referee to halt the game three times.
The capital's only top-division club claimed that its players were prevented from scoring the winning goal that would have kept the team in the Bundesliga when fans came onto the field 2 minutes from the end.
Meanwhile, Duesseldorf police said on Friday that match refereeWolfgang Stark has filed a criminal complaint against a player for assaulting him off the field.
Police spokesman Markus Niesczery declined to say which player or team was involved.
