ROME (AP) Third-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska was upset by 28th-ranked Petra Cetkovska of the Czech Republic 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 in her opening match at the Italian Open on Wednesday.
Radwanska has had a solid season, winning titles in Dubai and Miami to achieve a career-high ranking of No. 3. She's dropped to 0-4 in her career against Cetkovska. She'll have to improve her clay-court game if she plans on contending at the French Open, which starts in less than two weeks.
In other second-round matches, Roland Garros champion Li Na of China beat Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic 6-1, 7-5; and 12th-seeded Angelique Kerber of Germany eliminated Vania King of the United States 6-3, 6-2.
Later, Roger Federer - fresh off a title in Madrid - faces 38th-ranked Carlos Berlocq of Argentina.
