Martinez: Utd look so Clever

ROBERTO MARTINEZ has warned Manchester United's title rivals the champions will be even more formidable when Tom Cleverley returns from an ankle injury.

Cleverley, who spent last season on loan with

Martinez's Wigan side, has been out for the past two months.

The 22-year-old midfielder was in outstanding form for United at the start of the season, playing a key role in their Community Shield win against Manchester City and in the victories over Arsenal and Tottenham.

After United thumped his team 5-0 without Cleverley, Martinez predicted his former player would make a real impact in the second half of the season.

The Wigan boss explained: "Tom Cleverley is a player you need to work with to understand the full package.

"The mentality he's got is quite unique. He's a winner and we all see what he can do.

"Tom will be refreshed — and that could be the key for United. He's going to be fully fit and it's going to be like having a new signing.

"He can make a big impact on the title race."
