Evans mystified by delay in Contador hearing

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP)—Two-time Tour de France runner-up Cadel Evans says he’s “mystified” at how long it has taken to resolve a doping case involving triple champion Alberto Contador.

In comments published Wednesday in Australia’s Fairfax newspapers, Evans questioned why it took so long to confirm hearing dates for Contador, saying he was “a little bit mystified.”
The Court of Arbitration for Sport announced Tuesday it would hear the doping case from Aug. 1-3, more than a week after the Tour de France finishes.
The ICU is challenging the Spanish cycling federation’s decision to clear Contador after he claimed he’d inadvertently ingested a banned anabolic agent from contaminated beef last July.
