SHANGHAI, Jul 27 (Reuters) - Italy’s Federica Pellegrini retained her women’s 200 metres freestyle title at the world swimming championships on Wednesday, completing the 200-400 double at the championships for a second successive time.
Pellegrini, who won both titles at the 2009 championships in Rome, clocked one minute, 55.58 seconds to claim gold ahead of Australia’s Kylie Palmer, who took silver in 1:56.04, while France’s Camille Muffat of France was third in 1:56.10.
