Rockies get 20 hits to punish Brewers

DENVER (AP)—Colorado’s Ryan Spilborghs(notes) had a home run among four hits as the Rockies recorded a season-best 20 hits in overpowering the Milwaukee Brewers 12-3 in the National League on Thursday.

Spilborghs finished a triple shy of the cycle while registering his first four-hit games in more than two seasons.Ty Wigginton(notes) and Ian Stewart(notes) had three hits each for the Rockies.
Colorado starter Ubaldo Jimenez(notes) (5-8) allowed two runs in six innings to earn just his second win at home in 2011.
Milwaukee starter Yovani Gallardo(notes) (10-6) allowed a season-worst 11 hits in four innings.
Marlins 6, Cubs 3

In Chicago, Florida scored six runs in the ninth inning to overwhelm Chicago.
Cubs closer Carlos Marmol(notes) (2-3) picked up his seventh blown save. He walked three batters, throwing just one strike in the process, and pinch-hitter Greg Dobbs(notes) followed with his double that along with a throwing error gave Florida a 3-2 lead.
Marmol walked another batter before Kerry Wood(notes) came on in relief and allowed a sacrifice fly and run-scoring single. A futher reliever James Russell(notes) gave up an RBI single to make it 6-2.
The Marlins trailed 2-0 before sending 11 batters to the plate in their final in the ninth, and won a season-best sixth straight game.
Florida reliever Edward Mujica(notes) (7-2) recorded the final out in the eighth to take the win.
