DALLAS, July 6 (Reuters) - Former Cy Young Award winner Brandon Webb is unlikely to pitch this year due to a shoulder injury that has kept him off a major league mound for over two years, the Texas Rangers said on Wednesday.
An examination revealed some changes in his rotator cuff and Webb is weighing options, including surgery, the Rangers said on their website.
Webb, 32, was a three-time All-Star with the Arizona Diamondbacks but has not pitched in the major leagues since Opening Day 2009 because of a rotator cuff injury that required surgery.
He won the 2006 National League Cy Young Award and was a 22-game winner with Arizona in 2008.
The Rangers signed him in the offseason.
