BERLIN (AFP) - Bundesliga side Hamburg have clinched the signing of Norwegian international midfielder Per Ciljan Skjelbred from Rosenborg on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
The 24-year-old, who has 17 caps, is not due to move to Germany until January 1, 2012, but HSV coach Michael Oenning told the club's website they were hopeful of securing his release in time for the start of next season.
Rosenborg are due to take part in the third qualifying round of the Champions League later this summer, and wish to have Skjelbred available for that tie as well as the remainder of their domestic league season, which runs until late November.
Hamburg have already signed four young players from Chelsea this summer, with Michael Mancienne, Jacopo Sala, Gokhan Tore and Jeffrey Bruma all following newly-appointed sporting director Frank Arnesen from Stamford Bridge to northern Germany.
