COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP)—Danish champion FC Copenhagen says it has signed a four-year contract with Senegal-born striker Pape Pate Diouf.
Diouf is leaving Norwegian club Molde FK, where he scored 44 goals in 127 matches. The transfer sum was not announced.
The Danish club says Diouf will begin training immediately. The season opens on July 23.
Copenhagen director Carsten Jensen says on Tuesday that Diouf “has evolved into a hardworking player and top goalscorer.”
Diouf says he had “five fantastic years” at Molde but couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play in Scandinavia’s largest club, where he will join fellow Senegalese striker Dame N’Doye.
Copenhagen hopes to win its fourth consecutive championship this coming season.
