MUNICH, Germany (AFP) - Bayern Munich say the section of hard-core fans who abused Manuel Neuer on his first appearance for the club on Wednesday are
now no longer welcome at the Allianz Arena.
The 25-year-old made his playing debut on Wednesday in a low-key pre-season game against a local Italian side as part of Bayern's training camp, but received a hostile reception from some fans.
The Germany goalkeeper switched from arch-rivals Schalke 04 last month and was given a cold welcome by some of the 2,500 fans watching when he played the first half of the 15-0 win against Trentino on the shores of Lake Garda, Italy.
One banner read: "You can save as many balls as you like. We will never accept you in our shirt."
Last Saturday, Bayern's bosses held a round-table discussion with fans' groups to urge them not to attack the keeper.
The club issued a statement on Thursday saying anyone who insults Neuer will become a 'persona non grata' at the club and effectively banned.
"As a result of the round-table talks, it was agreed that that Manuel be seen by all fans as a member of the Bayern Munich team, that he will be treated with respect and will not be subjected to insults," said the statement.
"At yesterday's game against Trentino, a small group from the ultra scene broke this agreement.
"Bayern Munich distanced themselves from both the banner displayed against Manuel Neuer, as well as those who were part of this small group.
"We also wish to make it known that this was a very small group that is not registered with Bayern.
"Due to the events in Arco (Trentino), the people in this group are now 'persona non grata' with Bayern Munich."
Bayern say members of their supporters association Schickeria-Munich had told director of sport Christian Nerlinger in Trentino that they are distancing themselves from the ultra fans.
