Eight Mexican players are banned from playing in the Copa America due to indiscipline

MEXICO, June 28, 2011 (AFP) – Eight players of the Mexican national team, who were scheduled to play in the Copa America, were barred from the team, suspended for six months and fined in $4.170US for bringing “women” to their rooms, in a hotel in Quito.
The disciplined players are: Jonathan dos Santos, from the Barcelona’s B, Israel Jiménez (Tigres), Néstor Vidrio (Atlas), Marco Fabián (Guadalajara), Jorge Hernández (Jaguares), Javier Cortés (Pumas), Néstor Calderón (Toluca) and David Cabrera (Pumas).
After the friendly match against Ecuador, on Saturday, the above mentioned players brought “women” to their rooms, according to the hotel.
“The players already confessed and are full of remorse. They have apologised to the team, the supporters, the technical commission, and to the federation and have said they’ll take responsibility for their actions”, declared González Iñárritu, director of Mexican football.
Eight players were selected as replacements: Kristian Alvárez (Guadalajara), Osvaldo Alanis (Estudiantes Tecos), Diego de Buen (Pumas), Antonio Gallardo (Guadalajara), Edgar Pacheco (Tigres), Carlos Emilio Orrantía (Pumas), Alan Pulido (Tigres) and Ulises Dávila (Guadalajara).
Mexico-champion of the Gold Cup this June-will play in the Copa America with 18 players U-22 and five experienced athletes.
The list of players who are going to the Copa America is below:
Goalkeepers: Luis Michel, Carlos Felipe Rodríguez (Morelia), Liborio Vicente Sánchez (Querétaro).
Defenders: Kristian Alvárez (Guadalajara), Osvaldo Alanis (Estudiantes Tecos), Miguel Ángel Ponce (Guadalajara), Darvin Francisco Chávez (Monterrey) Hiram Mier (Monterrey), Paul Aguilar, Néstor Alejandro Araujo (Cruz Azul), Diego Antonio Reyes (América), Héctor Reynoso (Guadalajara).
Midfielders: Carlos Emilio Orrantía (Pumas), Diego de Buen (Pumas), Jorge Enríquez García (Guadalajara), Antonio Gallardo (Guadalajara), Edgar Pacheco (Tigres).
Forwards: Giovani dos Santos, Oribe Peralta, Rafael Márquez, Javier Ignacio Aquino (Cruz Azul), Alan Pulido (Tigres), Ulises Dávila (Guadalajara).
