SEOUL, May 4 (Reuters) - The head of South Korea's top professional baseball league has resigned amid an investigation into corruption charges, local media reported on Wednesday.
Korea Baseball Organisation (KBO) Commissioner You Young-koo handed in his resignation earlier this week just before his arrest on Tuesday, according to league officials.
"Commissioner You chose to step down beforehand, concerned that his arrest would deeply trouble baseball," KBO Secretary General Lee Sang-il told South Korea's Yonhap news agency.
The KBO will convene an emergency meeting with the eight teams in the league on the subject of electing a replacement for the 64-year-old You, who had been commissioner since 2009.
