A proud Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said he was sure his side would not slip up as they look to complete a record 19th English football title.
United's 2-1 victory over second-placed Chelsea on Sunday means they need just one point from either of their remaining two games, against Blackburn Rovers and Blackpool, to break the record they share with Liverpool.
For Ferguson - and winger Ryan Giggs - it will be a 12th Premier League title and the manager said he had full faith in his players to finish the job.
"Knowing the players they won't muck it up," Ferguson said. "They will get a point there's no doubt about that.
When Ferguson won his first title at United in 1993, it was just the club's eighth in the top flight, 10 behind Liverpool.
But United quickly became the most dominant side in the country and Liverpool have not added to their tally since 1990.
"I would not have believed it (how well they have done)," Ferguson said. "The minute we won that first title in 1993 the door opened, and we've been involved in the first two all throughout that period - it's a fantastic achievement.
"For the last 17 or 18 years it's been Arsenal and Chelsea as our nearest challengers and the last few years it's been Chelsea.
"Arsenal made a great attempt this year but them losing (at Stoke on Sunday) has finalized it.
"It took time to get the foundations of the club right and after we got the first title we improved, improved and improved."
