KARACHI, May 25 (Reuters) - Former Pakistan one-day captain Shahid Afridi has pulled out of the two-match series in Ireland this month, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Wednesday.
"He is with his father in the United States where his father is under medical care. Doctors have advised Afridi to remain with him for a few more days," a board spokesman said.
Afridi was sacked as captain this month by the PCB and replaced by batsman Misbah-ul-Haq who has led the test side since last year.
Afridi's removal came after he led Pakistan to the World Cup semi-finals and a 3-2 win over West Indies in a one-day series last month. The board gave no reason for the decision.
The all-rounder has yet to respond to a notice from the board for violating the players' code of conduct after he gave a statement on his return from the West Indies in which he highlighted interference in his role as captain.
