Nets top scorer Lopez has surgery on right arm

NEW YORK, May 4 (Reuters) - New Jersey Nets leading scorer Brook Lopez had surgery to remove bone mass and calcium deposits from his upper right arm, the NBA team said on Wednesday.
The former first-round draft pick, who the team expects to be
ready for training camp next season, will wear a sling for six weeks and begin rehabilitation in two weeks.
"Brook was bothered by a bony lump that developed after he was hit in the arm early this year," Nets' orthopedic doctor Riley Williams said in a statement. "A full recovery is expected, and Brook should be able to return to basketball activities in approximately six weeks."
The surgery was performed at a New York hospital.
Lopez, who has never missed a game due to injury in his three-year career, averaged a team-high and career-best 20.4 points per game during the 2010-11 season.
