Igor de Camargo scored on the final play in stoppage time as Borussia Moenchengladbach stole a 1-0 victory over VfL Bochum in the first leg of a German Bundesliga promotion/relegation playoff tie on Thursday.
The Belgian international De Camargo volleyed high into the net in a goalmouth scramble as the referee let play continue beyond the original added on time of two minutes which infuriated the Bochum camp.
Victory was sweet for Moenchengladbach, who barely managed to finish third bottom in the Bundesliga to get into the playoff against third-placed division two finishers Bochum.
Bochum host the second leg on Wednesday and have history on their side, having returned straight back into the Bundesliga after relegation on all previous five occasions.
The winner joins promoted Hertha Berlin and Augsburg in the top flight, the loser plays in the second division along with relegated St Pauli Hamburg and Eintracht Frankfurt.
