Magic's Howard headlines the all-defensive team

NEW YORK, May 9 (Reuters) - Orlando Magic centre Dwight Howard, who won a record third consecutive defensive player of the year award last month, headlines the NBA all-defensive team, the league said on Monday.

Howard, who led the league this season with 789 defensive rebounds, comfortably beat Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo as the team's top vote getter, receiving 56 points to Rondo's 39.
Miami Heat forward LeBron James, Celtics forward Kevin Garnett and Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant completed the first team.
The voting was done by the NBA's 30 head coaches.
Howard, on the first-team squad for a third consecutive year, led the league with 66 double-doubles while averaging 14.1 rebounds and 2.38 blocks per game.
He recorded at least 1,000 rebounds and 100 blocked shots for the sixth straight season.
Tyson Chandler of the Dallas Mavericks was voted the centre for the all-defensive second team, and was joined by Memphis Grizzlies guard Tony Allen, forward-centre Joakim Noah of the Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul, and forward Andre Iguodala of the Philadelphia 76ers.
