Hajduk Split turn to Bulgarian Balakov as coach

ZAGREB, May 27 (Reuters) - Bulgarian Krasimir Balakov will take over as coach of Croatian League runners-up Hajduk Split, local media reported on Friday.

Hajduk went through three coaches in the season, when they finished 17 points behind Dinamo Zagreb, who won the title for the sixth consecutive season.
Balakov, 45, a former Bulgarian international, was previously the coach of Bulgarian side Chernomorets and also briefly at the helm of Grasshoppers Zurich.
He replaces Ante Mise, who took over for the last five matches of the season in his second spell in charge. Zagreb, who also won the Croatian Cup, also changed their coach at the end of the season when former player Krunoslav Jurcic took over after the club’s leadership clashed with Bosniak Vahid Halilhodzic.
