Greek court rules sprinters guilty of perjury

ATHENS, May 10 (Reuters) - Former Greek sprinters Kostas Kenteris and Katerina Thanou received a suspended jail sentence for staging a motorcycle crash to avoid a doping test before the 2004 Athens Olympics, court officials said on Tuesday.

Kenteris, 37 and Thanou, 36, were sentenced to 31 months in jail each as the much delayed trial involving the two Sydney 2000 Olympic sprint medallists and their coach Christos Tzekos finally came to a conclusion.
Tzekos was sentenced to 33 months in jail. All sentences were suspended pending appeal.
