SAN FRANCISCO, May 8 (Reuters) - Ryan Vogelsong got an unlikely win in his pitcher's duel with Jorge De La Rosa as the San Francisco Giants beat the Colorado Rockies 3-0 on Sunday to close in on first place in the National League West standings.
Vogelsong, starting in place of the injured Barry Zito, tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings to help the Giants (18-16) complete a three-game sweep of the first-placed Rockies (18-14) and pull within a game of the division lead.
Cody Ross drove in all three runs for San Francisco to hand out the first loss of the season to De La Rosa (4-1), who allowed the three runs and struck out seven batters in six innings.
Ross had an RBI single in the fourth, then added a two-run blast in the sixth before the Giants bullpen secured the win.
