RIO DE JANEIRO, May 29 (Reuters) - Flamengo, with an inspired Ronaldinho scoring a first half equaliser, conceded a last minute goal for a 3-3 draw away to 10-man Bahia in the Brazilian championship on Sunday.
Title holders Fluminense bounced back from defeat on the
opening weekend with a 1-0 away win over Atletico Goianiense, while Atletico Mineiro, Vasco da Gama, Corinthians and Sao Paulo are the only teams to have taken a maximum six points.
Ronaldinho, in improved form after disappointing in the Carioca (Rio de Janeiro) state championship won by Flamengo last month, equalised on the half hour after the 2009 champions had fallen behind to an early goal by Lulinha.
Flamengo went behind again in the 36th minute to a goal by Jobson but their Argentine midfielder Dario Bottinelli equalised in the 54th and left back Egidio put them ahead in the 72nd.
The visitors then had midfielder Helder sent off three minutes later for a foul on Bottinelli, his second booking, but Jobson snatched a point for promoted Bahia with his second goal, a left-footed shot in the 89th.
“We dominated the match, we had more of the ball in the 90 minutes and we conceded three goals through our own mistakes,” said Ronaldinho, who helped Flamengo beat Avai 4-0 last weekend.
“It’s the start of the competition and it’s now that we have to get things right. This (match) showed we’re on the right track and now we’ll correct all this,” he told reporters.
In Gioania, former Portugal, Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder Deco had a good game in the win over Atletico Goianiense, defender Leandro Euzebio rising above the defence to head the winner from his corner in the 13th minute.
However, Flu’s Brazil striker Fred and Argentine playmaker Dario Conca were well below their best.
“Winning points in this competition is very complicated. Because we lost on our debut, this win was very important to give us some calm,” said Fred.
Fluminense have been under caretaker coach Enderson Moreira since their 2010 championship winning coach Muricy Ramalho resigned in March and while they wait for Abel Braga to join them on June 12 after ending his contract with Al Jazira in the United Arab Emirates.
