* Willingham blasts five RBIs to power Athletics
* Cahill posts AL-best sixth win in pitching tussle
DALLAS, May 9 (Reuters) - Trevor Cahill out-pitched opposing ace C.J. Wilson again for his American League-best sixth victory as the Oakland Athletics beat the Texas Rangers 7-2 on Monday.
Cahill, who also outdueled Wilson in a 3-1 win 10 days ago, struck out
seven batters and walked one as he allowed one run in seven innings in the battle between teams entering the game tied for second place in the AL West.
Supplying the power for the A's was outfielder Josh Willingham, who drove in five runs including a three-run blast in the third inning that staked Cahill to a 3-0 lead.
Willingham might have skipped the game after being hit with a one-game suspension earlier on Monday for making physical contact with an umpire while arguing a strike call, but he decided to appeal the ruling and was able to suit up.
Cahill and the A's were boosted by the decision, as Willingham added a two-run single in the eighth when Oakland put four runs on the board to chase Wilson and put the game out of reach.
"I feel like when I get some pitches to hit, I gotta be able to hit them, and I was able to do that tonight," Willingham told reporters.
"I was happy to be able to help the team tonight and get a couple of big hits."
Left-hander Wilson, who slipped to 4-2, was charged with five runs in seven innings while walking five batters.
"That's how they have to beat me, I have to make a bunch of mistakes and walk a bunch of guys, because they're not that good of a hitting team," Wilson said.
"I have no idea why it is that I pitch so poorly against them."
Cahill, who improved to 6-0, used his assortment of off-speed pitches to baffle the Rangers, retiring nine batters in a row at one point and lowering his earned run average to 1.72, best among AL starting pitchers.
Earlier on Monday, Detroit Tigers right-hander Max Scherzer also pushed his record to 6-0 in a 10-5 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.
