The Dallas Stars snapped a six-game losing streak with a controversial 4-3 road win over the Anaheim Ducks Sunday, keeping their slim hopes of a playoff place alive.Mike Ribeiro netted twice, his second goal giving the Stars a 4-2 lead at 15:04 in the second period, and Dallas moved within three points of the
Western Conference's eighth and final playoff spot with four games remaining.
Trailing 4-3 with two minutes left in the third, Anaheim's Teemu Selanne thought he had tied the game but his score was wiped off for goaltender interference.
A minute later, the Ducks' Bobby Ryan put the puck in the net but his score was also erased because of a hand pass from Corey Perry.
"I grabbed it with my hand but I didn't see if anyone touched it after that," Perry told reporters. "It's a tough one to swallow. Those are the bounces we have not gotten in the last two games."
The Ducks (44-30-5), seventh in the West and four points clear of the Stars (39-28-11), could have sealed a playoff spot with a win in regulation time.
Anaheim's Ryan Getzlaf opened the scoring in the first period before Jeff Woywitka and Ribeiro gave Dallas a 2-1 lead.
Lubomir Visnovsky tied the score at 2-2 before the end of the period but the visitors opened a two-goal lead in the second thanks to strikes from Brenden Morrow and Ribeiro's second of the game.
Perry cut the deficit to 4-3 with his 47th goal of the season late in the second but the Ducks could not break through in the third.
