The Juve website reported Thursday that the defender suffered a pulled a muscle in his right thigh during a game that Italy won 1-0 against Slovenia last Friday.
Juve are also concerned about veteran captain Alessandro Del Piero, who left Thursday's training session limping and risks missing the game at Rome's Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.
With eight games left, Juve lag five poinst behind sixth-place Roma, who currently occupying the second available Europa League berth.
