FIFA president Joseph Blatter is set to face a single rival in Mohamed bin Hammam in elections to head football's world governing body, it emerged Friday.
The deadline for nominations as a candidate for the presidency passes at midnight (2200 GMT), and it appeared only Blatter and Asian confederation president Bin Hammam have backers.
It is understood that former Chilean player Elias Figueroa and US journalist Grant Wahl, who had been seen as possible candidates, have not found the nomination they would have needed from a national federation.
FIFA said Friday it would announce the candidates on Monday "following a thorough verification process."
The president will be elected in Zurich on June 1 as part of the 61st FIFA Congress.
Blatter, 75, has been head of FIFA since 1998. He has said he would he down in 2015 if he is re-elected for a fourth term.
