Skibbe fired after Frankfurt win first match of season

German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday fired coach Michael Skibbe just days after the club secured its first league win of 2011.
The club said that Skibbe, who still had a contract until June 30 of this year, would be replaced by Christoph Daum.
Daum, whose last Bundesliga coaching job was with Cologne, was fired by Fenerbahce Istanbul in January last year and has been doing TV work since then.

The 57-year-old will be in charge of Frankfurt until the end of the season, but Frankfurt said in a statement that both parties were interested working together beyond that.
"I am trying to achieve a feeling of change at the club. It is my wish that Cologne and Frankfurt avoid relegation. Frankfurt is a club with a rich tradition and a huge potential.

"I am not a coach for short-term goals, I work with long-term concepts and I therefore do not think of the second division."
The 2-1 victory against St Pauli on Saturday was the first game Frankfurt won this year and they are presently in relegation trouble in 14th place.
Skibbe, who extended his contract for a year in January, is already the 10th Bundesliga coach who has been sacked this season.
