MANCHESTER, England, March 15 (Reuters) - Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic lost his battle to be fit for Tuesday's Champions League last-16 second leg against Olympique Marseille.
Wes Brown was named to partner Chris Smalling in central defence as the hosts prepared to take on the French champions in a tie that is level at 0-0 after last month's first leg in Marseille.
Serbia international Vidic had missed training on Monday after picking up a knock in Saturday's 2-0 win over Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
The match kicks off at 1945 GMT at Old Trafford.
