Wolverhampton-Wigan Athletic Preview

LONDON (SE) - Wolverhampton Wanderers' new manager will be watching on when they visit the DW Stadium to play Wigan Athletic on the final day of the season.

Relegated Wolves confirmed the appointment of Stale Solbakken on Friday, but the immediate reaction saw the players admit they'd never heard of the Norwegian.
"I don't know who the guy is to be honest," said defender Roger Johnson. "It is out of the blue. We'll see what happens."
"Seriously, I don't know who he is but I will know today for sure," added Ronald Zubar.
Wigan have already sealed their Premier League survival and manager Roberto Martinez is looking ahead to the summer transfer window, admitting that a number of players will leave the club.
"There are four players out of contract and I expect them all to go," said Martinez. "The idea is to keep the same squad size as we had this season, so we need to bring four players in.
"It's important we do our recruitment before the Euros because we could miss out if we wait until after the tournament. We signed Antolin Alcaraz before the 2010 World Cup. That was a key moment in our history because he scored the winner against Blackburn on Monday that confirmed our eighth season in the Premier League.
"If we'd waited another month, in all honesty, I don't think we'd have been able to bring him in. So signing players is something I'd like to do quickly. Before the Euros if possible.
"I don't expect to lose anyone who is under contract," continued Martinez. "Obviously with the ones that are out of contract, it is something we need to accept - there are certain individual circumstances where some of the players need a new chapter or moment in their careers. But I don't expect to lose anyone who is under contract."
Wolves are without Wayne Hennessey (knee), Jamie O'Hara (groin) and Jodie Craddock (hamstring), while Michael Kightly (groin), Christophe Berra (calf), Kevin Foley (hamstring), Matt Jarvis (groin), and Sebastien Bassong (hamstring) are all doubtful. Wigan have no reported injury concerns going into Sunday's game.
A defeat for Wolves would see them limited to the sixth worst points total in the history of the Premier League. Wigan have managed seven wins and six draws in their last 14 matches, whereas their opponents on Sunday have just one league win since December and no wins in the last 13. Wigan have committed the second most fouls in the league this season, while Wolves have made the second fewest. Striker Steven Fletcher has scored 11 league goals this season, the most ever for a Wolves player in the Premier League and the club's highest top-flight tally since 1981.
