NEW YORK, July 5 (Reuters) - Hong Kong, Guadalajara in Mexico and Russia’s Kazan are the only cities to have submitted formal bids to host either the 2015 or 2017 world championships, swimming’ s world governing body FINA announced on Tuesday.
FINA said it would decide the 2015 host after seeing presentations from all three final bidders in Shanghai on July 15 and would also name the 2017 host as long as at least two of the bids were up to the required standards.
The world swimming championships are held every two years.
This year’s championships are in Shanghai, starting on July 16, while the 2013 titles will be held in Barcelona.
