Report: Jets, Smith agree to three-year deal

After losing out on CB Nnamdi Asomugha(notes), the Jets returned to focusing on their own players, re-signing S Eric Smith(notes). The Star Ledger's Jenny Vrentas reported Smith agreed to a three-year deal early Saturday morning.

Smith was a third-round pick in 2006. In 13 games in 2010, Smith recorded 54 tackles and two passes defensed. A special-teams ace, Smith had nine special-teams tackles.
The Jets lost Brad Smith(notes), another special-teams contributor, to the Bills. Asomugha signed with the Eagles.
CB Antonio Cromartie(notes) and S Brodney Pool(notes) remain unsigned.
