Pujols set to return to Cardinals line-up

ST. LOUIS, July 4 (Reuters) - Albert Pujols’ recovery from a wrist injury is well ahead of schedule and the three-times National League MVP could return to the
St. Louis line-up as early as Tuesday, the Cardinals slugger said.
Pujols fractured his left wrist in a collision at first base on June 19 and was originally expected to be out for up to six weeks, but he fielded ground balls and took swings during a pain-free workout on Monday.
“It can be tomorrow,” Pujols told the team’s website (stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com), of his return. “I feel right where I want to be right now. I’m pretty excited. I can’t wait to be back on the field, whatever the time is.”
Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said he would play Pujols this week if he was ready to go.
Pujols is batting .279 with 17 home runs and 45 RBIs this season but the nine-times All Star will miss this season’s Mid-Summer Classic. (Writing by Jahmal Corner in Los Angeles
