Peschke makes it double joy for Czechs

LONDON, July 2 (Reuters) - Kveta Peschke ensured more Czech joy at Wimbledon when she claimed her first grand slam doubles title alongside Slovenia’s Katarina Srebotnik.

The second seeds beat Germany’s singles semi-finalist Sabine Lisicki and Australia’s Samantha Stosur 6-3 6-1 on Centre Court after Petra Kvitova became the first Czech to win the women’s singles title since Jana Novotna in 1998.
“It’s a terrific feeling,” the 35-year-old Peschke said. “I mean, I’m playing for so many years, so this is the cherry on the cake.
“We played magnificent through the whole tournament and through the whole year. We are happy to have the trophy in our hands.”
