Peru travels to Argentina with the hope of giving a good performance in the Copa America

LIMA, June 30, 2011 (AFP) - The Peruvian team, headed by the Uruguayan Sergio Markarián, traveled on Thursday to the city of Mendoza, Argentina. They are hoping to give a very good performance in the Copa America, even though four of their players are missing from their first squad.
"We're going to play to win this tournament. We hope to do well and have good results in spite of several injured players," Markarian told the press.
The coach indicated a little concern about the loss of four of their best players, injured in the final stage of the preparation. An unforeseen situation that forced him to change their game plans, just a few days before the tournament starts.
"It is true that we have tradition, but we do not have possibilities. We will do everything we can, but our main goal is the Qualifers” for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, said the Uruguayan tactician.
Peru is part of the Group C with Chile, Mexico and Uruguay. The team’s debut will be on Monday, against Uruguay.
