Peru surprises Uruguay with an early goal and the match ends with a 1-1

After two games without a goal for the 2011 Copa America, Uruguay and Peru are in the draw by 1-1, in a match held in San Juan, Bicentenário Stadium, which receives double round today, with the match between Chile and Mexico.

The first half started very busy with a predominant Uruguay in the field. The 'celeste' went to the attack in the first minute and almost opened the score with a shot from Liverpool’s striker, Suárez. However, who opened the score was Peru. At 23’, Michael Guevara gave an excellent assistance to Guerrero, who came face to face with the goalkeeper Muslera, dribbled and scored the first goal of Peru in the 2011Copa America.

Surprised, Uruguay had to leave for the game, and left spaces in the defense. But the pressure was too much and the equalizer came in the last minute of the first half. After beautiful assistance of Lodeiro, Suarez scored.

The second half started colder than the first, without many chances. At 68’, Forlán received a pass from Suarez, came face to face with the goalkeeper Fernandez, but kicked out. Peru replied with a dangerous shot of Vargas.

In a double round on Friday, 8, Uruguay will play against Chile, while Mexico faces Peru, in Mendoza. In the second round of Group C, the teams that lose their confrontations will be very complicated in a position to qualify to the quarterfinals.
